The Death of the Outdoor Billboard

According to the Outdoor Advertising Association of America, the nation’s leading billboard agency, the billboard industry has grown in revenue since 2016.

The Association continually promotes promising futures for their major advertising partners, including Mc Donald’s, Coca – Cola and other leading brands.

However, I think the fancy MBA types and nerds crunching the data  are looking at this from an myopic point of view.

The billboard or outdoor advertising media space is a 8 billion industry; but if you don’t think that the billboards will be dominated by internet advertising in the next five years, we should have a casual debate.

Before you enter the ring, however, I want to remind you that self – driving cars are coming. In  my opinion, most drivers won’t be looking around and staring at billboards anymore.

So what’s my point?

There is a tidal wave coming of advertising revenue that will need to be placed rather quickly.

We have been skipping through tv commercials since Tivo entered the market, and Google Pay Per Click advertising has dominated the first half of this decade.

Facebook ads are extremely affordable right now and Instagram is fine tuning their platform.

Get ahead of the market.
